Safer Medication Use

Safer Medication Use is a new bulletin series, jointly produced by the Regional Drug and Therapeutics Centre and the Yellow Card Centre Northern and Yorkshire, which aims to promote safer prescribing. It discusses specific drug related safety problems, provides guidance to ensure safe, appropriate prescribing and raises awareness of adverse drug reaction detection and reporting.

Safer Medication Use is aimed at all prescribers, nurses, pharmacists and any healthcare professionals who can report adverse reactions via the Yellow Card Scheme. In addition the bulletin is of value at an organisational level such as Drug and Therapeutics Committees and Medicine Management Groups, and can be used by clinical governance and non-medical prescribing leads to inform prescribing policy decisions and risk management strategies.

This information is produced for use by NHS healthcare professionals. See site disclaimer.
